Court House - To the correctional officer who complained of a hostile work environment within the jail, not only do minorities, gender, and age have special protection under the law, but also military (retired and active) and employees who have a long or short-term disability, and sexual orientation. You are entitled to file a complaint with the state Division of Civil Rights and file a lawsuit with the state Superior Court within a two-year period of the infraction. If several officers complain of harassment, a class action lawsuit may be in order. Talk to a law firm specializing in employment law.
