Avalon - The reason that the new owner of the Avalon Anchorage site has been pushing for variances is that so many other developers are given variances on a regular basis. The only way variances should ever be allowed is if it is harmful to the people of a town to follow the zoning rules of said town, in a certain, bizarre, unique case. I don't think ninety-nine percent of the variances given here qualify.
