Wildwood / Ocean City - I noticed a Wildwood spout, "How did a fire engine purchase of over $650,000 not need the taxpayers' approval? Do we really need this expensive fire truck?" While I don't know for sure, I suspect that the purchase of a new fire truck was included and approved, along with the rest of the annual budget. While that number seems really high to some of us, it's on par with what fire trucks cost these days, with engines well over $500,000 and ladders around $1 million. Unlike a family car, a fire truck, depending on usage, can be in use for over 20 years.
