Cape May / Philadelphia - As a police officer, I was frightened watching a Cape May city officer driving across the Washington Street Mall crosswalk area via Ocean Street to an emergency July 29 around 2:30 p.m. The officer had the vehicle's emergency lights and sirens activated, but did not brake at all while traveling at a high rate of speed through that area. There was a large crowd of pedestrians and bicyclists in and around the intersection at the time. There was also a trolley pulled to the shoulder, blocking the view of pedestrians waiting to cross. No emergency is worth killing someone to get to.
