I paid taxes all my life and now need benefits.

Ocean City - I paid taxes all my life and now need benefits. I can't get them because there is a six month back log. Do our elected officials even know parents with hungry children are told to go beg at the food bank for canned goods? If I can't get the benefits I paid for, please give me a refund on the taxes which paid for them.
