Cape May - Beach safety or beach slope safety is the big issue of the year. First, I agree, no injury is acceptable, but the reality is when people engage in dangerous activities accidents happen. The U.S. Lifeguard Assoc. compiles incident records each year and for 2015 New Jersey had 10,231,520 visitors, Cape May had 1,109,298 visitors. New Jersey had 660 major medical cases, Cape May had 68 major medical cases and these cases were not defined. The claim that Cape May has the most dangerous beaches on the east coast is unfounded and was confirmed by nine coastal engineers at a meeting in Cape May Aug. 25.
