Avalon - Herald editors should refrain from being flippant when commenting on spouts. They are so eager to dismiss a spout that they don’t pay attention to what is being said and the gist of the comment sails right over their heads. In my reply to the SIC spouter about the gull, my point was that the gull’s injury is not part of natural selection and therefore the original spouter does not need a ‘nature lesson.’ I also said that we had a nearby avian rehab center at one time. The center was all-volunteer. Ergo, no government funds ‘wasted’ on the life of a mere gull.
