Wildwood Crest - A new peer-reviewed study in Chemosphere found dangerous levels of flame retardants in black plastic kitchen implements, food servicewear, hair accessories and toys. The culprit: The items were made of recycled black plastic from TVs, computers and other electronics, which used to be routinely treated with flame retardants, including ones treated with brominated and organophosphate compounds. When that e-waste was recycled, the flame retardants hitched a ride into the new products. JUST A WARNING
