Twenty years ago a lot with a single home or duplex paid 2500 to 5000 dollars per year in property taxes. Now some of those same lots have 3-8 units and pay 21,000 plus to 60,000 plus per year . There are also large homes and town homes billed at 17,000 plus per home per year. Then we have property tax abatement all over the city not just in the Pacific Avenue redevelopment zone - why?
