Wildwood - 1990: Rutgers in-state tuition, room, and board= $6,000.00 a year. Federal loans: $2,500.00 a year leaving a balance of $3,500.00. Manageable with a part-time job.
2023: Rutgers in-state tuition, room, and board= $32,000 a year. Federal loans: $6500.00 a year leaving a balance of $25,500.00 a year. I don't know any kid earning $25,500 in a summer job. Loans shouldn't be forgiven, but college costs need to be controlled. Something's got to give. Maybe college is pricing itself out of business.
