Avalon - It is good to see the interest in extending Route 55. While there is not recent data available, one dated comparison of highway construction costs by the state showed New Jersey's cost per lane mile the third highest in the country, exceeded only by New York State and Hawaii. I'm in favor of a gas tax increase for transportation improvements, but raising unrealistic expectations does not serve the public well. If the money is there, go for it. But if the cost of extending Route 55 proves prohibitive, then be flexible enough to support safety and capacity improvements to existing roads.
