Why can't Lower Township have its own Animal Control officer?

Erma - Why can't Lower Township have its own Animal Control officer? How much are we really saving the taxpayers with a private firm? Response time should be the number one priority. Anybody can be polite, we need a person in a crisis fast, not an hour away! Cut the middle man, and hire someone who actually works for the Township.
