Sea Isle City - The state Department of Community Affairs' Fire Safety Division investigation of Sea Isle City found that our fire chief and assistant chiefs "lacked the proper certifications for incident command." It is interesting that two of these chiefs are related to our councilpersons. While I commend public service, it makes me wonder if additional state inquiries would discover other unqualified people holding positions in town. Budget documents reveal Sea Isle City allotted nearly $20,000 for fire department salaries and wages in 2019 and $97,000 was set aside for additional fire-related expenses.
