Stone Harbor - It is with dismay that I read that Sen. Andrzejczak was asking for more money for schools. I am charged huge property taxes to fund a school system which has less than 160 students. The budget for the 2018 school year is $3.2 million for Stone Harbor (84 students) and $4.5 million for Avalon (75 students) for a total of $7.8 million or $48,910 per student. You would think that with low student to teacher ratios and millions of dollars invested in education, the students would be academically superior, but in school reports, Avalon and Stone Harbor are mediocre at less than 50 percent.
