Avalon - The claim that there are 20,000 gun control laws in the U.S. is false. Research has determined reliably that there are between several hundred and a few thousand. But, the point is not how many there are, but how effective they are. Example: With stronger gun control laws, New Jersey has half the rate of deaths of children from gun violence than Pennsylvania. Opponents of stronger laws essentially say, let the violence and the massacres continue. If the epidemic was, say, rape or child pornography, we would demand stronger laws. So, too, for the bloody epidemic of gun violence.
