Wildwood - People who rent their homes through HomeAway, beware. HomeAway is not collecting the proper taxes. They are only collecting a sales tax of 6.625 percent and a state occupancy fee of 5 percent. On the State of N.J. website, it clearly states we are to collect 6.625 percent sales tax and 3.15 percent state occupancy fee for Wildwoods, 2 percent Cape May tourism, 1.85 percent Cape May assessment fee. A total of 13.625 percent is due, but HomeAway is not collecting properly which could result in state fines. There isn't anyone at HomeAway from the USA to help. It's cheaper to go to an all-inclusive vacation then N.J. Goodbye tourism.
