Avalon - Recently, my family and I witnessed a harrowing incident at the 48th Street beach in Avalon. An Avalon lifeguard took the Avalon lifeboat out for a spin. However, he did not realize that the 20 mph westerly wind would make it difficult to row back. As a consequence, he and the boat drifted out to high seas. He was not able to come back. He had to be rescued by a motor boat. It was embarrassing for him.
