Wildwood - States with strict gun laws have lower gun-death rates because sensible gun laws work. The top five states with the most stringent gun laws have the fewest gun deaths per 100,000 people: MA, 3.4; NY, 4.4; CT, 4.6; NJ, 5.5; and CA, 7.9. Conversely, states with the least restrictive gun laws have higher gun deaths per 100,000 people: LA, 21.3; MS, 19.8; KY, 17.5; West VA, 17.5; and AZ, 15.2.
