Fire commissioners' reason for buying this truck is that the 15-year-old present ladder truck with only 9,000 miles has become undependable. Fire commissioners have a proposal to refurbish the present ladder truck to new condition for one third the cost of the new truck and get another seven to 10 years out of it, but they want a shiny, new, red truck that will rarely see action like the truck they seek to replace. I encourage taxpayers to vote this down.
