Once again the Cape May County commissioners are expecting county residents to staff warming centers from October through April when temps drop below 32. Last year was brutally cold and must have required a lot from the volunteers. The median age of county residents is 53. This commitment for people who work would seem difficult. For many retirees and senior citizens going out in the cold and sitting up all night is not a healthy option to choose. Have any of the Commissioners signed up to cover 9pm to 6 am from October through April? If so perhaps the county would have a shelter by now.
