Three weeks ago, by large bipartisan votes, Congress passed new sanctions against Russia and countries that were continuing to use Russian oil and gas and gave Trump sweeping powers to expand those sanctions. And yesterday Trump and the Treasury Department promptly announced they were issuing a temporary license to permit Russian diesel to sell on the global market. The sales will not help U.S. oil prices, but they will funnel money to Russia for its war on Ukraine.
