All this demand for more openness in AI scares me more than the perceived risks of AI itself . China is watching the US and taking notes. Every open congressional hearing provides them with a window into the development of AI in the US! Why would we want to give China a blueprint on the US is doing? Also based on the disastrous hearings with social media companies I am extremely fearful of Congress trying to regulate something they don't fully understand! While I agree Congressional oversight is needed, it mustn't slow US companies down while China goes full speed ahead!
