For years as a competitive runner, I listened to guys minimize our sport and dismiss our training. Our athletic achievements were constantly downplayed. But the second the internet found out one woman has XY chromosomes and CAIS- suddenly, those exact same men are deeply, passionately concerned about the sanctity and “protection” of women’s sports. They didn’t care about women’s sports when we were fighting for funding, equal pay, or basic respect. They only care now because it gives them a convenient excuse to police a woman’s body. It was never about fairness… it was always about control.
