West Cape May

My wife and I both worked in NYC. After the first plane hit, my colleagues all filed down the stairs. I was at the Chrysler building so I was a little concerned that as a landmark building it could be a target. I eventually connected with my wife in midtown. We stayed in a nearby hotel in tiny rooms, probably they were long-ago servants quarters. But, beggars can't be choosers. I really remember the smoke, the endless sirens, and how surreal it all was. My wife got a car service the next day to return to our home in New Jersey. But the driver was unable to take us the whole way. A kind ConEd worker picked up a number of us in his car and got us back home. The smoke was still strong 50 miles away from NYC. We knew everything was going to change.
