The county is NOT looking to do away with overtime despite whatever the AFSCME president believes. Currently overtime is calculated daily and they are changing it to a weekly calculation. Simply, if you work a 35hr work week (which is 7hr/day), you earn overtime starting with the 36th hour of the week. If you work a 35hr work week, you should not get overtime starting with the 8th hour of the day. Why? Because there are employees taking advantage of the system. Now let's accept the county's offer and move on.
