Cape May County suffered coastal flood damage from a late-February blizzard this year. The deadly storm caused 12 fatal injuries across 9 New Jersey counties. Trump denied federal disaster aid to the counties. In April Jeff Van Drew and every Democrat in the New Jersey congressional delegation wrote to Trump asking him to reconsider. Now Van Drew has backed out of the request. Why? Because he doesn't want to contradict or antagonize his idol, Donald Trump. Apparently Van Drew's loyalty to Trump is more important to him than seeking desperately-needed disaster relief for his constituents.
