NEWARK, N.J. — In case you were wondering how NJ Transit’s $98 tickets to World Cup soccer matches were selling, the answer is: not well. The New York Times sports website, The Athletic, reports that as of 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 31, fewer than 18,000 of the available 320,000 train tickets have been sold for the eight matches in East Rutherford, N.J. The exact figure, 17,739, represents 5.5% of the available inventory. The tickets went on sale May 13.
