Regarding out of county visitors using the ZOO and paying nothing, the Moderator replied that the ZOO receives “ substantial donations”. Yes , that is true but not nearly enough to cover all of the operating costs. The yearly shortfall comes out of the pockets of Cape May taxpayers. Give me any reason that out of county visitors , and there are thousands, should not have to make up the shortfall by paying a reasonable entrance fee. CMC taxpayers are not responsible for entertaining visitors to the ZOO.
