AFSCME board members need to step away. From my experience reading these contracts and observing how grievances are handled, there appear to be repeated contradictions, poor understanding of applicable laws and municipal operations, and an excessive use of taxpayer resources on disputes that often go nowhere. Many members feel the leadership has become self-serving and focused on protecting a select few rather than representing the interests of the membership as a whole. The union should be focused on accountability, professionalism, and advocating responsibly for all members.
