Re: Letter to the Editor about Spouts vs. in-person complaints. I understand the writer's sentiments and although many just gripe in spouts, this forum can be valuable. Few actually have "whistle blower protection." People who shine a light on issues often suffer retaliation. I've seen it happen by gov't officials and in the workplace. Even things that seem rather benign can lead to attacks because those in their respective power often can "punish" with impunity. A spout can offer protection while informing the citizenry. It is often prudent not to put a target on one's back.
