The Herald has often complained about the gov’t plan to put public notices online, depriving them of a source of revenue. They’ve argued that local newspapers are important and that losing that $ puts them in jeopardy. I agree. BUT, the Herald has also continually griped that public workers’ pensions and healthcare are too costly. Public workers are every bit as important to the community as local papers. Those of us who’ve dedicated our lives to public service would appreciate the paper not being so selfish regarding the use of taxpayer money.
