Cape May

As per the recent article in The Herald on the beach erosion due to the recent Nor'easter. In 1962, a March Nor'easter, accompanied by a full moon destroyed our boardwalk along with Convention Hall and stores around the Hall. Several homes in the Poverty Beach area were washed away and our school, Star of the Sea was closed for several days after the storm. All this happened long before the building boom in Cape May and the barrier islands. It is no surprise to those of us that have grown up here. Overbuilt and overpopulated. What do you think will happen when a real storm hits our area.
