Moderators of editorials and opinions in a local paper should be the guardrails in keeping things neutral and civil. They should not “edit” someone else’s spouts with their own words (just omit) and “bate” a commenter with a particular political bent. Neutrality is key in healthy debate and free speech. Moderators should post their own spouts on their own time if they want to stir the pot.
