As the parent of a special needs child, I want to give similar parents a gentle heads up. Your child’s case manager very likely has zero teaching experience. They likely have a degree in social work. Although well meaning, the M.O. is to load the IEP with items to make it easier- not actually address a learning disability with solutions. YOU are your child’s best advocate. Make sure the school is working to help your child overcome, not sidestep. The goal should be to prepare them for life not lower expectations and grade inflate.
