Half of all infertility cases are caused by male infertility. Men rarely think about their ability to have children, but sperm counts worldwide have declined by over 50% from the 1970s, with the rate of decline increasing after 2000. Exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals in products from food and beverage containers to furniture and agricultural pesticides affect male fertility from the beginning of life. Smoking, drug and alcohol use, poor diet and lack of exercise also factor. With infertility, there’s a huge bias against women, who are blamed for anything going wrong, but it takes two.
