I understand that I was in the wrong for parking at a meter without paying, but I believe the fines are excessive. I was parked for less than 10 minutes and received a $55 ticket from the Wildwood police. Why not start with a $25 fine for a first-time offense and increase the penalty for repeat violations? I can provide my credit card statement showing that I regularly pay to park. Unfortunately, the one time I didn’t—during Hurricane Erin in the pouring rain—I was ticketed. It feels unreasonable.
