DJT and the Reps wouldn't be rigging the system if they thought they could legitimately win a majority of voters. State legislatures normally redraw district lines every 10 years after the census as required by the Constitution, but DJT asked Texas Reps to redistrict NOW, mid-decade, so as to cut up five districts that tend to vote Democratic and create districts Reps will almost certainly win. 5+ seats will help the Reps hold the House. Meanwhile, the party with a lock on the district gets more radical, as candidates have to worry about being primaried by someone more extreme than they are.
