I enjoyed reading Mr. Hall’s article A Fond Farewell to the Penny. It reminded me (a child born in the 50’s) when I was out with my dad (a depression era child) he would stop to pick up pennies off the sidewalk. I remember being embarrassed, as I thought made us look poor. We weren’t. I never realized the pain that my dad’s family went through during the depression with six children. Anyway, I am proud to say, every time I see a Penny on the ground, I put it in my pocket to emulate and honor dad and mom. Ps: thank you Sturdy Savings Bk for still maintaining a change mach
