I am from Atlantic County, but I don't know where else to get my voice heard. My school, MRHS, has just voted to sunset the Latin program. The superintendent told the BOE that since only 11 freshmen are signed up for Latin 1, it does not meet the minimum threshold of 15. However, what he did not tell the board is that there are 4 non-frosh signed up for Latin 1. Other classes run with less than 15, such as "bicycle maintenance". MRHS is doing nothing to promote Latin and some counselors actively discourage students from Latin. But they are promoting " gaming concepts". please support us.
