The phrase “The Inmates are Running The Asylum” is used when the people least capable of running a group or organization are now in charge, especially when the result is total chaos and calamity. I would say that accurately reflects are current situation. But I guess the majority of Americans will turn their back on this just like they did regarding January 6th.
