On June 28, 1787 the great sage Benjamin Franklin-the former deist,now a theist- recommended a daily prayer by a local pastor: "Sir" he said "The longer i live, the more convincing proofs i see of this truth-that God governs in the affairs of men.And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice,is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?"He said also "In free governments the rulers are the servants and the people their superiors& sovereigns"-a view that we modern Americans should recall when our government treats us as infantile little children.They work for us!
