So Cape May Deputy Mayor says that the time has come to hire a coastal engineer for the beach safety issues that have come and gone through yet another summer. Didn't the Beach Safety Committee recommend hiring a coastal engineer when Mr. DeSatnick chaired the committee? So NOW is the time ... ??? Until this issue is solved, Cape May can expect more injuries in the surf zone. Seems like city council is more focused on "light trespass" and "dark-sky-friendly" issues than the ongoing real safety problems in the surf zone.
