In reference to the spout discussing schools providing translators. Our local schools are all wrong in their approach to ESL kids. They immerse them in regular classrooms where they understand nothing and put them with an ESL teacher for a short duration a few times a week. Sometimes that ESL teacher doesn’t even speak their native language. ESL students should spend at least 1/2 the day in a class that teaches them English. This skill will allow them to go further than simply plopping them in classrooms where they are confused and out of touch.
