In March 2019, Gov Murphy signed a law banning businesses from refusing to accept cash. The second US State to do so. In the spirit of that law, how is it that municipalities throughout NJ are permitted to implement a program of cashless meters restricting, excluding and discriminating against some who might not have access to devices or a financial apparatus to use public meter parking freely? Is the US dollar in all forms not legal tender anymore?
