Why would you ever allow the fire chief to be involved with the purchase of the new fire truck. He should report what is needed, justify that, then turn the purchase over to the administrator to get bids after Council approval. Then after the best bid comes in Council then approves the deal. Fire Chiefs should not have the authority to purchase a 1.2M cost.
