The irony is, Trump could have openly admitted to the “affair”, not paid Daniels, and still not lose his base, he just didn’t know it in 2016. Instead he chose to pay Daniels off (no crime), alter his books to reflect “legal expenses” (misdemeanor), and entered into a conspiracy with Pecker, Cohen and Weisselberg to “catch and kill” Daniels story, in addition to violating campaign finance laws. Even if they dismiss the finance violation due to 5 year statute of limitations, the conspiracy still stands. That’s what elevates it to a felony. NY law suspends statute for any time not lived in NY.
