I say this through a technology lens and not a political one. . It has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt the Chinese government is using apps like TikTok to spy on people. The chairman of Bytedance, the company behind the app, testified in front of Congress that he limits his own children's access to the application. While I will never call for a ban on any application, I will say every time people use Tiktok they are allowing the Chinese government to dig deeper into their lives.
