A bridge from Cape May to Delaware would be a fortune. The original cost of the 2 lane Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel in 1964 was 200 million dollars which is about 1.6 billion today. I don’t know what cost would be for a Cape May to Delaware bridge today but I don’t believe it would carry enough traffic year round to cover expense. Busy time is in season and then ferries are cut back in off months.
