Villas Spouter: On caulking around vinyl siding. Vinyl siding is not truly water tight, and that’s why house wrap or tar paper is put underneath. If you are talking about caulking between the J channel around the door and the door frame, it shouldn’t be necessary if there was flashing installed around the door frame before the door was installed. Caulk will not hold long term. Unzip a section of vinyl siding, check for flashing and feel around, if the wood is soft call a pro and get ready to spend. When cleaning vinyl siding always spray down not up or water will get in the weep holes.
