The federal government is coming up on the debt ceiling even with record revenue from taxes ,fees and fines why is this ? Does the government spend to much well yes, should the government cut spending yes. The federal government needs to cut federal jobs and programs that overlap what the states do. All federal agencies need to cut at least 5% of employees and their budgets. The 17% of workers that would be furloughed during a government shut down are not essential so eliminate them today. Congress needs to shut down the government ASAP .
